Baby Name Frame....

Baby name frames or decorated letters are quite popular as nursery decor these days so I thought I'd share one of my baby name frames with you today. The frames are shadow box style so you can add some dimension. My sister asked me for a name frame for a girl she knew that was expecting a girl and had chosen Mackenzie for her name. She didn't know much about what the nursery colours were gonna be or what the girl liked for decor. She only knew their was a baby registry at the local Toys "R" Us so I went and checked it out to see if I could come up with some inspiration on a background colour to use. In her list she had several large items like stroller highchair etc that has a pink and brown plaid material on it. I didn't have any and couldn't find one I really liked so I printed a pattern off my laptop.
I used my Gypsy to design the cut out of the pink paper by putting a rectangle on the screen larger than the frame it was going in. I took two sort of a swirly shape and elongated them, flipped one and welded them together and cut. Laid this on top of the printed plaid paper and had my back ground for the frame. Added some flowers and greenery, a butterfly and the letters of her name and wah lah...done!
I made the flower by layering the different sizes of the Sunflower set two by spellbinders, inking them before removing them from the flower die. The leaves for this flowers were rather big so I opted for different leaves from Daisy Heads spellbinders set plus added some leaf sprays by Sizzix. A few tiny punch flowers and a butterfly off a pick in a pack of butterflies by "Craft" from the dollar store. They are plain wire covered with a nylon material and come in several different colours, I only had a pack of white so I added some stickles to the wings. The letters my sister picked out for the name didn't fit in the frame as it is only 7X9 so I cut these out with my Cricut. The letters (can't remember which one ) already have the hearts in the cut, and I had to  add some bling, because every girl needs some, so I glued in heart shaped gems.
Thanks for stopping by, I hope you enjoyed my post today, it's the first one in a series of  baby name frames I have made and will make. I really look forward to reading your comments, so if you have time drop me a ling. Bye for now and have yourself a scraphappy day!
Cindy :)

  2. Cindy, Thanks for your visit at Ultimate Whirligig. I am very new at cardmaking, and had a good friend suggest I use a blog to gain experience. I am finding playing with paper and card making very addictive.
I took up your offer and came to have a look at your site. Your work is absolutely beautiful, I especially love the roses with the inked edged. And yes I have become a follower. Happy crafting. Michelle (Whirligig) :)
