Have a ton of Fun

     Hello there my crafty friend :) Do you know what time it is? It's Peachy Keen Challenge time and this week it's "Anything Goes"! Everyone's favourite challenge, right?  Well it's one of mine for sure, free to create whatever I want....oh ya, bring it on :)
     I was excited when I saw what the challenge was because I have gotten so many new PK stamps lately that I just knew I was gonna have fun with it. After much debate, (with myself, lol) I decided to use PK-223 Baby Elephant, it is sooo cute, I just love it. I thought maybe it would be cool to make the background resemble a baby's quilt, and used a variety of pieces from my stash, lord knows I have a ton of little pieces, I don't throw away much.  :)
     I used Memento tuxedo black to stamp my image, sky gray color box for the stitching and copics to colour this little cutie. I cut him out with a Spellbinders classic circle, used a Spellbinders lacy circle for a mat and popped my image on the "quilt". I added an "It's a Boy" charm with limeade We R Memory Keepers bakers twine and a couple buttons for embellies. I used CC-PK4X4-024 Happy go lucky elephant die to cut the "splash drops" and added glossy accents, to represent the milk from his bottle.
Copics Used:  C3: body, E000 toe nails, YR20 nipple, R82 tongue, B00 diaper pin, R20 ears and hooves, W3 for the shadow in front of him and some of the top section of his bottle. EK Success chalk for the cheeks!

You've been framed!

     It's another Peachy Keen Challenge and this time we were to create a 3D object using frames! We could upcycle, use a cheap dollar store one, die cut one, or use our creative imagination to come up with something totally unique!!
     I had two idea's I was working on but neither one of them felt right, and the more I tried to get them to come together nothing was working, it kept nagging at me. I finally had something going late last night after trying for days but I was really tired and decided to finish it when I got up. Thing is when I woke up I had a whole new idea in my head so I came straight to my CR and set to work.
     I told my sister that I would make one of my baby name frames for her grandson's 1st birthday, which isn't until March 2013. They have been going on a hippo/zoo theme for the nursery and I was going to do a large hippo, but when I woke up my mind had kind of expanded on it a bit LOL!!!

I had to take the picture without the glass in because I was getting to many reflections, seeing me and what was behind me in the glass doesn't make for a great pic, lol but it looks great with the glass in....honest.... LOL

The Paper Shelter

     What do you think? I think it's way better than just a hippo in the middle don't you? I used my "Puffy Clouds" and "Wrought iron gate" memory box die's. The gate was cut 8X and I made little acryllic things to give them depth without using pop dots so they wouldn't show. At first I cut them out in grey then decided they blended into the hippo to much so I cut them again in white and glued on top of the grey one's so I wouldn't have to make those things again, LOL!

     I used a bunch of those acryllic things I made behind the boy and the tree as well. I love these 3D shadow box frames from Michael's, you can add so much depth to your designs. There is still room, the leaves of the tree don't touch the glass yet :)

    I made the hippo using the "Animal Kingdom" Cartridge and the PK-750 Animal Faces (sm) that co-ordinate with it. For the sun I used PK-M16- You are my sunshine, and PK-450 wide eyes kids for "Colton"  :) The grass was cut several times with a Cherry Lynn "grass border" die and over lapped. I cut the tree by hand then punched all the maple leaves with a small fiskars punch :}
     The outfit is a Jolee's sticker, I removed the arms, glued to white paper and cut out, drew on the red stripes on the reverse and reattached to the body of the sticker backwards so I could bend the arms. I made the neck and pop dotted the head off of it and added the hands, both from the "Everyday Paper Dolls" cart. Those little overalls are so adorable :) I made the running shoes using two circles cut from the smallest spellbinders circle die. I cut the rocks using "Plymouth Rock" from the "My World" cricut cartridge, I just hid the numbers that are on it, and a couple of the lines, as well as cut out twice.
     I added some little things for him to find when he's a little older, lol, like the pond, (if you look closely the hippo is standing in it ), the bird in the tree, (MS punch n stamp), the butterfly on the fence (small fiskars punch) and three ants (hand drawn) walking off with some of the hippo food that fell out of the little bag Colton is holding. :) He won't be able to find it probably but on the tree I drew a heart and put his parents initials in it, M+J, lol! I also added a tiny pop dot behind each of the hippo's ears to make them pop forward. And drew a couple birds flying in the distance :)
     I used several ink pads, markers and gel pens to add highlights, shading and edging here and there. I hope you like it, I have more baby names frames I made last yr and the yr before in another post here, here and here if you'd like to take a peek! :) I just realized there are two more I haven't blogged about that I made for my grand nephews :) Oh well, some other time....I am beat, this project has consumed my whole day!
     I'm so glad you came by to check out what I made for this week's challenge, I hope you like it and maybe you've been inspired to make your own for your kids or someone else's, they are fun and when they get older you can change up the theme for them, you are only limited by your imagination which I know is awesome, I've see your stuff....LOL! Splish Splash

     It's a "Pool Party Bash"!  This weeks Peachy Keen challenge is Just cards and I have been trying to come up with a card for this adorable stamp! PK-M08 mini piggy tubby time, isn't it just to cute.

     I wanted it portrayed as a pool so I cut it out and layered it several times omitting the bubbles and covering the ones in front of the wash tub with a beach ball :) I thought about colouring the tub in different colours to make it look like one of those rainbow blow up pools but didn't want to change it that much!

I layered it several times so the right piggy would be stuck out in front of the left one and so the tub itself would stick out in front of both of them giving them dimension and depth. The umbrella is cut from my Shower Peepers die CC-PK4X6-005. I love the dies just as much as the stamps, and they can all be co-ordinated with each other so well. I used PK-150 Accessories Assortment One to give them sun glasses :) I was so happy their was a pair small enough, ty Kathy J!  :)

     I painted a round toothpick white to be my pole to my beach umbrella but couldn't find it when I went to add it, no idea where it ran off to, lol so I cut the centre out of a q-tip and used that instead :)  

     The very back scalloped circle mat is a quickutz die and the pink and top ones are the two largest spellbinders Peony dies. I used copics to colour my grass, tub, piggies, beach towels, umbrella and two bottom mats. I don't have blue so I used prismacolour pencils to do my sky. :)  I drew and coloured the splashes on then covered with baby blue stickles, added stickles to the water in the tub as well to make it glisten. I randomly added some "stickles puddles" of water on the grass. :) The beach towels are a See D's stamp, they were to wide so I cut some off of them. The patterned designer paper is a very old piece of BoBunny from my stash, (I hope I remembered that right, it's the only thing I didn't write down, I noticed the name when I was added the double sided tape) 

     I am so happy you had a chance to drop by and check out my latest PK challenge card, it took me forever to make this one, including starting several other cards, lol! Time to Party!!

     Hey there, it's Wednesday once again and time to enter my card into this weeks Peachy Keen Challenge which is colour inspiration :) I have always been fascinated with the patterns on peacock feathers, they are so beautiful!

 

     Immediately I figured I'd use an elephant taking care of the grey, and following suit with my card base in the same colour, although it is barely noticeable in the pic, on my screen anyway. Once again all papers are from my scrap stash, (I have so much of it) but I do know the solid papers except for the navy and grey card base were from  recollections 8.5X11 sheets. The designer papers are old pieces I've had for about three yrs.

     I originally made an elephant from the New Arrival cart and using the Pk stamp set to match, then at the last minute I decided to use my Happy Go Lucky Elephant from the Cottage Cutz spring collection, it's so adorable and I hadn't used it yet. The clock and sentiment are from the PKSC-04 April stamp kit of the month and the Happy Birthday strip was cut with a MS jumbo punch. The turquoise doily was made using a Fiskars round doily punch and I backed it with a 4" doily from the $ store.  My sentiment is stamped on a really pretty piece of purple paper but on my screen it looks kind of washed out, I sure hope it looks better on yours lol!

The elephant was cut out twice, popped up off the doilies and his ears and trunk are popped up off the first elephant so I could hang the clock from his trunk.

I even made him a hat using the same stamp set and glued on a piece of a cotton ball for the pom pom but I think he looks cuter without it, what do you think? It is green with navy spots, but they looks black!

Souper Fun PK Challenge 16

     Hey there my crafty friend, ty for stopping by to see what I have for you today. The new Peachy Keen Challenge this week is to make a 3D project using a soup can! As soon as I saw that I knew I just had to make a luminiere. (At least I think that's what it's called, lol)

    A couple of  holes on the eyes got away from me, it was really hard to hammer a pin on the line when you can't see if your on it when your hand is in the way holding the pin. LOL But I didn't do to badly :) I used my copics for the nose and the cheeks, but the cheeks weren't showing up like the nose was so I used a pink sharpie.

    At first I was making it so it would hang from a branch or something and I'd put a candle in it for the light to shine through, then I thought ohhhhhh all the rain is going to get in and it will get all rusty. Plus I didn't want to use real candles because I painted the inside of the can white. Flames would wreck it and the can would get hot and black inside. I wanted to paint the outside to but it isn't easy stamping the face on a soup can,  it can slip giving you shadow lines, which happened to me on my first attempt. I am using Staz On black ink, luckily I can fix mishaps with a q-tip and some goo-gone but if I had painted it white, I wouldn't be able to do that. I had to erase the image a few times and start over trying to get a good impression. 

     You have to carefully ink up your stamp really well, position your can so it can't roll and lay your stamp over the area you want the image. Carefully press all the inky areas and try to push some of the ink pad into the ridges. I got really good coverage and only had to fix a few spots with my black sharpie. The first one I made with the opening at the top, and I used a small finishing nail to make all the holes but I could only manage to get the holes in the valley's of the ridges instead of the hills. The holes were all different sizes and although it was really cute and completely usable I started over.

    This time I turned the can upside down and made it into a table top ornament, I used a pin to make all the holes, they are more uniform, smaller and I could put holes in the hills and the valleys, it was much easier.

     To punch the holes I had an old Ferero Rocher container, I set the can in there with a plastic lid from the nails so it wouldn't move as I was hammering the pin, this worked out awesome.

     After I got him all full of holes I thought he needed something so I gave him a hat from half of a plastic bubble container I picked up at M's a while ago with lace in it. I just painted the inside of it with blue acrylic paint, and wrote my sentiment on the outside with a black sharpie.

         After all this I can't find my little battery operated candles, they must be packed away with my Christmas stuff, but I always have a few in here for different projects I make, no idea what I did them after change my rm around a few weeks ago, hmmmm. Oh well, no biggie, my MIL bought these light up footballs to put in some candle holders I altered a couple yrs ago for a wedding shower I put on, they glow blue and have 3 settings, I left it on the constant glow setting so it wouldn't be flashing, to hard to take a pic that way, LOL! 

I tried but can't get a good shot in the dark, I wish I had a tri-pod

     It's my youngest sons girlfriends B-day in 2 weeks, and he wants to give this to her, she will love it, she saw me making it and kept saying how cute it is, and that she wants to make one :) Her fave colours are blue and green, that's why I made a blue hat with green trim for it :) She doesn't know she's getting it, the hat fits perfectly, like it was made for this project and look what will be going inside!  :) She's gonna freak LOL How exciting!

     I hope you enjoyed my project today, and maybe you got some cool ideas floating around in your head now to make something like this. I actually want to make a bunch of these but with different faces, now I need the whole set LOL and I want them in my Gazebo hooked to the mini lights, that would be soooo cool :) I guess we better eat more soup, we rarely eat soup, usually only use it to make my noodles and sauce, mushroom pork chops or scalloped potatoes. Garden Markers meet Peachy Keen Stamps

                                              
   The Peachy Keen Challenge this week is a colour challenge. Not one of my fave's unless I really love the colour scheme and an idea comes to mind right away, otherwise I generally struggle. I have been trying to come up with an idea for this since I saw it on Friday, plus I had to move all my sisters scrapbooking stuff to my house on the wkend, get that all organized, and I am working on several projects for the big party at her house this wkend. This wasn't helping me come up with an idea, my mind was preoccupied on different colour schemes and themes. :) LOL

     Yesterday I was busily working away on one of the mini albums I am making for the party and was getting dangerously low on double sided tape. After dinner I went to the dollar store to get some and while I was there I figured I would look around and see if something sparks an idea for this challenge. When I walked down the summer isle  I saw these wide flat BBQ skewers and Eureka!! the idea of garden markers popped in my head.

    My nephew just asked me last wkend if I could make him some to mark his new veggie garden. He's only 12 but he has a thing for gardening, last year he did a lattice garden, and the yr before he planted a couple perennials behind the house. I didn't even think of combining his request with this challenge till I saw the skewers! Probably because I wasn't going to be working on them till after the big family get together. I called him and asked if it would be OK to use PK stamps on his veggies, he said "fine but please don't add the words, I'm not a little kid and will know what they are by the picture". :) LOL Okie dokie, he's to cute!!
When I got home I looked through my cricut carts Freshly Picked and Preserves to see what cuts I had, woohoo, I have all the ones he asked for....perfect!!

 I used my gypsy to size my veggie/fruit cuts, the only one's that were a challenge were the carrots and the pea pods since they are elongated. I needed them big enough for the tiniest faces but not to big for the marker. I had some large white bristol board pieces in my cardboard/chipboard bag, so I cut 8 rectangles out at 4"X6". The blue strips are 4" wide by 1.5"high. After glueing down the strips and setting the veggies/fruit on them I thought they looked kind of plain. Then I remembered he likes lattice so I used my provo craft cuttlebug lattice die and glued them on. Hmmmmm, nice but they still looked plain, I tried several different things but just couldn't decide what to put behind the veggies, designer papers and die cuts seemed to take away from the veggie/fruit and lattice but it still needed something so I did faux stitching in their coordinating veggie/fruit colour would work. I had them all done, pictures taken and I was working on this post when I looked at them and thought....oh no, What if I had to pick just one, or if the judges want to judge them individually instead of as the set....I will be disqualified because all the colours aren't on each on. So I went to work colouring and stitching the other colours on each one that wasn't there already.  This was one of the longest projects which should have been short but sweet, it was going so well last night! Oh well, it's all worth it in the end. 

      I used PK-450 Wide Eyed Kids Face Assortment for the lettuce, tomato, cucumber, squash, pumpkin and strawberries then PK-570 Basic Paper Doll Face Assortment Pkg for the carrots and pea pods.

Sentiment is hand written on the  smallest Labels Ten Spellbinders Die

     I used several cartridges to create my snowwoman. It is one I personally designed about 3 year or 4 years ago in cricut design studio, then redesigned last year on my gypsy. It is one of my favourite cut files to date and I make a lot of cards using this snowman cut, I just change up the hat and scarf on occasion  to make different styles for snowmen and snow woman. Also changing the arms to accommodate what ever they may be holding, or have arms in different positions for waving and stuff.  I used  my Peachy Keen Stamps for the face, of course,  love them! And added glossy accents to them  for a little added dimension.

      My card base is slightly larger than I usually use, I cut it at 5.75 X 6.50. I love the snowflake designer paper by DCWV  from The Christmas Stack, I've had it for about 2 yrs maybe 3.  I  used it for my background, cutting it at 5.25X 5.75 and adhering to the top half of the card base.  I took a white card stock rectangle which was about 2" deep by 5.75 wide and used my Kimberley Poloson rotary cuttery to cut it in half in a wavy pattern to give me uneven snowy layers. I then ran them through the xyron and coated with MS fine white glitter.

     Whoops, missed a spot, didn't notice that with these $ store glasses, LOL  sry! The mail box was assembled and glued directly to the card base first, kind of on an angle, like you sometimes see mail boxes in the winter from the plough pushing the snow towards them. Did a bit of doodling on the pole and the front of the mailbox, note the name on it :)

     Now I think I should have used I.C. Snow, LOL. Then I glued the tallest of the two snow strips I made with the xyron on overlapping the mailbox pole. Added a bunch of pop dots to the snow woman, the top snowy strip, the letter and the sentiment and attached. I didn't really want to cover up the snowflakes paper, cause I think they are so pretty but wanted my sentiment on the front of the card. The letter is just hand cut and doodled, although I could have cut it out with the mailbox, I made it before I found the cut for it, and I wanted it bigger to add the "sealed with a kiss" acronym and the lipstick kiss ;) A bit of doodling here and there on her accessories and she's done!

Happy New Year PK Baby

     Hi there, I hope you had an awesome Christmas and thank you for popping by my blog today to see what I've been up to. I know everyone has been busy with family and shopping and planning etc. so now that Christmas is all over the focus is on ringing in the New Year.

  If you have frequented my blog you know how addicted I am to Peachy Keen Stamps and that I am working hard at playing along with their challenges as well. Their challenge on Tuesdays is normally a sketch challenge, and PK stamps aren't required, but for this time around they decided to make it a designer's choice except you HAVE to use your PK stamps. That's fine with me, I generally try to use PK stamps on all my projects for their challenges anyway. So here's my entry for their last challenge of 2011! I hope they love it as much as I do, the face makes the card :) Everyone that I showed it too wants one, especially my sister!  LOL

LFIF Challenge and my sons Christmas card

     Hello, so happy you popped by. I created a card for the Let's Face It Friday challenge over at Peachy Keen! The challenge is to use fabric scraps on your project. Can make what ever you want as long at it has fabric on it somewhere. I only have one wintery, Christmasy PK stamp, well it's my aunts and I am borrowing it :) I am going to have to replace it though, it's getting so well used and I adore this little penguin! LOL  When I made my card for the last Tuesday sketch challenge I went to PK to get the link to the stamp and realized the ball on the end of her hat was a bobber. I didn't remember that, because she came single, no pkging, so no pic of  her coloured up, therefore I forgot that little detail. She's been on my wish list since I first saw her.  The whole PK site is on my wish list, LOL!!!
     When I saw that bobber I had this idea to make my son a Christmas card with an Ice fishing theme. He is a fishing fanatic, and the first time he went ice fishing with his dad he was five. He loves to fish and goes every chance he can, even his wife goes along with him quite a bit, although I doubt she would be to keen on going ice fishing, LOL! Never know, she likes winter sports, unlike me, who hates the cold and what it brings....YUCK white stuff, uggg! We do not verbalize the name of the white stuff, that is swearing. LMBO!
     For his card we will let him think that the penquin is a male, shhhhhhh   LOL   To create my fabric enhanced penguin I stamped her twice, once on cs and twice on wide white ribbon that comes on a roll to make your own bows. I cut out the ribbon image once and glued it to the cs image, cut it out and coloured it in. Then I cut out the white area of the penguin and glued it on. The hat is cut from a felt ribbon, the scarf is from a piece of cotton and the vest is from a piece of material that was in my grandmothers old sewing basket, I don't know what kind of material it is, like the actual name of it, I don't sew and don't know all the material types, there's way to many to keep track of, LOL I should have just cut it from the piece of denim that was in there, I know it's name,  lol.The fur on her hat is Silver Ice stickles! I had some actual fur but it was on a wire and just wouldn't cooperate with me, LOL so I had to resort to stickles.

Peachy Keen Stamps LFIF Challenge ~ Add Fabric Scraps

     I made the fishing pole by cutting the end off a green tooth pick, glueing on some jewellery wire and a green gem for the reel. I cut the igloo from white foam and drew on the pattern, and the snowy edge is also white foam, I added frosted lace stickles to it and the igloo for the snow, Silver ice stickles to represent the frozen lake, and baby glue stickles for the hole in the ice to catch the fish :)  I also made the bucket by cutting one bucket shape, sticking the fish stickers on it popping out the top, added a piece of white foam, then cut another bucket shape and glued it on top pinching the sides down to give it a rounded effect. Pieced a hole on each side and added some green wire for the handle.  I used a white gel pen to add some snow to the branches of the trees I stamped in the background, it wasn't working really well, but you can still see some snow on them. Added some Silver ice stickles for falling snowflakes, so they would be shiny.

Peachy Keen Stamps Challenge #66

     Hello my crafty friend, ty so much for stopping by to check out my blog today. I just finished making this Christmas card to add to my stash and I followed this sketch from the latest Tuesday Peachy Keen Challenge #66. I love to combine my PK stamps with my spellbinders dies and other dies I have collected over the last four yrs. This is the sketch we were to follow....we can move things around and add others as long as we keep the main elements and they are apparent in our design.

The prize this week is this Valentine Cupids set that is just so darling. I hope they like my entry and I really hope Mr. Linky picks my number, LOL! Since Valentine's day is the next big card giving holiday I really could use this set, it's soooo cute!!!

       I used PK-M21 Donna Rae Penguin for my main image, cause she's so so cute. I paper pieced the fur on her hat, her vest, and her arms.  The pockets on her vest, the fur on her hat and the sentiment sign are popped up.  The strings of lights are from a quickutz 2008 limited edition holiday set. (retired die, now lifestyle crafts) I coloured them and layered 2 rows, the top row is popped up. Her eyes and feet and light bulbs are covered with glossy accents. I used toothpicks for the poles of her sign she's carrying. I cut out a spellbinders Label 10 (love this shape) to layer her on, and I cut the bottom fancy edge off. After cutting it out and running it through to emboss I used a glue pen to go around the embossed edge then poured on silver glitter. The background designer paper is called Snowy Day by Sandylion sticker designs 2003. Really pretty paper and I'm almost out of it, hope I can find some more! The sentiment is stamped and then heat embossed in red. The holly leaves are cut from a quikutz retired die that has the bow, leaves and berries on the same die. I added red seed beads for the berries. I cut the spellbinders ribbon banner twice to make the banner appear longer, then cut the ends and tucked in under the popped up banner. Quickutz are now called lifesytle crafts and you can find their products here!

Baby's first Christmas

  I am totally going to make a couple more of these, it came out so cute. I want to make some with a bAby boy in blues and maybe some pale yellow and green ones to. Also with soothers in their mouths, that would be to cute. 
I was planning on using the PK paper doll stamps but the sizes were all wrong, so I ended up using the eyes from PK-496 but I had to ink up one eye at a time and stamp because I didn't think about the face size, was mainly trying to make the body the right size and just added the head, then I used the mouth/nose stamp from PK-576. Added some blue and white to the eyes and black and gelly roll pink to the mouth, a bit of chalk to the cheeks :)
   I cut the baby pj's from the everyday paper dolls cart, I did select just height on my gypsy to make it taller at one point. I was going for babies first christmas in her santa suit jammies. I cut the hat (paper doll dress up cart) out twice, once in each colour, and cut down the white, ran through the xyron then glittered. I used white acrylic paint on the feet, sleeves and neck line of the jammies, then on the feet I added red jelly roll pen dots, to look like the jammie's with the none slip feet grip dots. I glued a rattle in her hand, and used a digi stamp by Sandi Huggett from The Outlawz for the stocking. I printed it in pink and white then paper pieced it. The present is a 3D shaker sticker from wal mart, and I cut out the letters with a font set from quickutz...will have to look it up. The die cut is from Spellbinders, Labels 11 I believe, better look that up to! LOL
